Repairs & small jobs
Handyman Services in Pittsburgh
The repair list that keeps growing. The jobs other contractors never call you back about. We handle them, and we do them right.
The jobs that pile up
Every house has a list. The door that never latched right. The drywall crack over the window. The faucet that drips. The trim that pulled away from the wall. None of it is an emergency, so it sits there for months, sometimes years.
The hard part is finding someone to fix it. Big remodeling outfits do not want a half-day repair. The cheap handyman from an app shows up once and you never hear from him again. So the list just keeps growing.
We built Dogwood Builders to be the contractor who actually answers. We do full bathroom and kitchen remodels, and we do the small stuff too, with the same crew and the same standard. A repair gets done right the first time, or we do not call it done.
What we take on
Drywall & plaster repair
Cracks, holes and water damage, patched and finished so the repair disappears.
Doors that stick or won't latch
Re-hung, planed and adjusted, or replaced. Doors that close right again.
Trim & baseboard
Pulled-away trim, missing pieces, fresh baseboard and door casing.
Rotted or damaged wood
Soft thresholds, window sills and exterior trim cut out and rebuilt solid.
Fixtures & mounting
Light fixtures, ceiling fans, shelves, TVs and hardware hung level and tight.
Leaks & water damage
Dripping faucets, running toilets, and the damage they leave behind them.
Caulk & seal
Tubs, showers, windows and trim resealed so water stays where it belongs.
The full punch list
One visit, one price, the whole list of small jobs knocked out at once.
A small job, a real contractor
There is a difference between a handyman and a contractor who also does handyman work. When we patch your drywall, we know what is behind it. When we re-hang a door, we know why it stopped closing. When we fix a leak, we check whether it did damage you cannot see yet.
You also get a licensed, insured contractor for a job most people hand to an uninsured guy with a truck. That matters the day something goes wrong.
And here is the honest part. A lot of our remodels started as a small repair. We came out to fix a vanity, the homeowner liked how we worked, and a year later we gutted the whole bathroom. Small jobs are how people get to know us, and we treat them that way.
Older Pittsburgh homes, the repairs they need
Much of the housing around Pittsburgh and the North Hills is not new. Plaster walls, original trim, doors that have shifted with eighty years of settling, basements that have seen water. Older homes are full of character, and full of small repairs.
We are used to them. Plaster patches that blend in instead of standing out. Doors planed to fit a frame that is no longer square. Trim repairs that respect the original profile. The fixes that keep an older home solid without stripping out what makes it worth keeping.

Honest pricing, and a smarter way to book it
We look at the job and give you a clear price before we start. A quick, simple repair can be handled by the hour. For a bigger list, or anything that needs materials, you get a written quote. Either way you know the number up front, with no surprise at the end.
The smart move with small jobs is to batch them. Write down everything: the sticky door, the loose railing, the patch, the light that needs swapping. Send us the list. Ten small jobs handled in one visit costs far less than ten separate trips, and your whole list is just done. Send us your list and we will price the lot.
Common questions
Handyman questions, answered
What kinds of handyman jobs do you take on? +
Drywall patches, doors that stick or won't latch, trim and baseboard, rotted wood, leaky faucets, new light fixtures, shelving, mounting, caulking, and the general repair list that builds up around a house. If it is part of your home, ask us.
Do you take small jobs, or only big remodels? +
Both. A lot of contractors stop returning calls once they hear it is a half-day job. We do not. Small repairs are how plenty of our customers met us, and many of those turned into bigger projects later.
How do you charge for handyman work? +
We look at the job and give you a clear price before we start. Short, simple repairs can be handled by the hour. Either way you know the number up front, with no surprises at the end.
Can you handle a punch list of several small things at once? +
Yes, and that is often the smart way to do it. Knock out ten little jobs in one visit instead of booking ten separate trips. Write your list, and we will price the whole thing.
Are you licensed and insured? +
Yes. Dogwood Builders is a licensed contractor and carries insurance, on a small repair the same as on a full remodel.
What areas do you cover for handyman work? +
Pittsburgh and the North Hills, including Ross, McCandless, Bellevue, Wexford, Cranberry Township, Sewickley and the surrounding areas.
